Choir Issues

Anyone else competing at the World Choir Games this summer? My choir is going, and this is one of the songs that we’re singing! Not my choir however, there are no videos of us singing our competition pieces. Isn’t it a neat piece? Magnus, maior, maximus composed by Toth Peter.

Skip the first twenty-five seconds or so, unless you want to listen to their director talking. My choir sang this a few months back, but we opened it with four different solos. It was really neat as each of the solos stood in a different corner of the room and we sang this surrounding the audience. How Can I Keep From Singing? by Dr. Jane Fjeldsted.

If you stand, very still.
If you stand very still
On the stand of a a beach
You will hear many wonderful sounds.
The snap of a wave
And children at play.
Their laughter knows no bounds.
If you stand very still in the storms of this life
And you wait for the sound inside.
You’ll be led down the path of peace and grace
In a world unpredictable wide
If you stand very still and hold on to you faith
You will then begin to know.
You will draw, from the silence
The things you ask
Strength and hope and the courage to grow.
If you stand very still
and hold on to your faith, to your faith,
You will then begin to know.
You will draw from the silence
The things you ask
Strength and hope and the courage to grow
Strength and hope and the courage to grow
Strength, hope, and courage.
Courage to grow.

If you stand, very still.

Strength and hope and the courage to grow

Strength, hope, and courage.

Courage to grow.

I agree. xD

I agree. xD

Hey all.

Choir and school have been hectic lately, and unfortunately picnik has been shut down. If anyone knows of another photo editing website that I can use to make posts, I’ll be forever grateful! However, until then I’ll try to find those oh-so-funny choir humor and post them here. =)

Auditions

I have re-auditions for choir on Saturday, which aren’t really a concern because all that can change for me is if I become a section leader or head chorister(haha, not happening). Also, our director will move you to a new section if you prove that you can sing higher/lower than what she thought you could. For these auditions, we have to sing the melody of one of the songs we’ve sung this year. First I was thinking “Surely there is at least one that isn’t too high.” Ha. I was wrong. Learning the melody isn’t a problem, it’s the whole singing it thing and my fear of hitting the high notes well and being switched to soprano(or anything besides alto 2 really).

And for your amusement, I will now post a photo of my choir in the White House. =D
